World Vision Cambodia participates in "Fight Hunger" walk
21 May 2006

In Siem Reap--Cambodia, 21 May 2006, a crowd of over 2,000 gathered at the Royal Independence Gardens to participate in the “Fight Hunger” march hosted by World Food Program (WFP).

“Many poor students cannot afford breakfast before school and are unable to concentrate on school work. Serving food at schools not only fights hunger amongst the world’s poorest children, but helps to get them in school and provides an important key towards a better future” said Ramaraj, Deputy Country Director of WFP Cambodia.

Along with primary school students, Royal Government Armed Forces, Official staff, NGOs, local and international visitors, and World Vision Cambodia took part in the walk.

Asked why World Vision Cambodia participated in the event, Food Resources Program Manager Mr. Meng Chanthoeun said, “World Vision Cambodia shares the same mission to end childhood hunger. We hope that our presence today can add voice to the world by continuing support.”

“WFP is a major partner of World Vision Cambodia. We are proud to help reach the goal of a better future for children, we are delighted to be a part of the campaign,” said Chanthoeun.

The walk promoted and raised funds for school feeding programs of WFP Cambodia. Nine representatives from World Vision Cambodia participated in the event.
