World Vision Cambodia Joins the Celebration of Cambodia's Christian Churches
20 May 2006
Phnom Penh, May 19-20, the Steering Committee of 10 churches came together to represent the first ever Cambodia’s Christian Fair held at the Mondial Centre.
The purpose of the Christian fair was to expose the community (Christian and non-Christian) to the positive influence of the Christian churches in Cambodia. The fair was an opportunity for local and international Christian churches, NGOs, ministries and various Christian businesses to promote their goods such as food, handicrafts and information about the work they’ve done in Cambodia.
World Vision Cambodia was one among many other NGOs with Christian identity to participate in the event. Two booths were rented to display the vision and mission of World Vision Cambodia and sell the products made by children, widows, and community people in WVC’s targeted areas. Vision Fund Cambodia also participated by displaying products such as silk and clay potteries made by their clients.
“As a Christian organization, we want to see Cambodia’s Christian churches and NGOs work in unity. We want to see more people receive Christ as the Lord and Savior” Said Kang Phaldaracheat, WVC’s International Church in Partnerships Coordinator.
“Another important reason to join this celebration is to promote WVC’s development activities to the public.” He added.
Though it was threatened by rain the entire two days of the event, over 10,000 people walked around the open area at the Mondial Centre. Many products made by vulnerable women and children were sold.
